Knocking sound coming from motor when cold
I have a 00 GSR motor in a 00 Civic hatch.
When the car is started cold, there is a high pitched knocking/ticking sound coming from the distributor/left side of the valve cover area. The sound goes away when the car is warmed up, and is not audible at all when it's at normal operating temperature. Once the car is cooled down, the same thing happens when it is started again. Other than this the motor feels, drives and sounds fine.
I recently did a valve adjustment, and also tried listening "through a screwdriver" to identify the origin of the sound. However, the minimal area I could identify is the distributor/left side of the valve cover/IM.
Does anyone have any idea of what this could be?
TIA

This is what happened on my Civic, also on my brothers Integra. After we had the valves adjusted, it still did it. I'm guessing it's just the cold weather that causes it. IMO it's completely nomal.
Usually its difficult to pinpoint where exaclty a knock is comming from.. I thought mine was comming from the tranny area, but then after I threw a rod I realized it was coming deep down in the block
I know it's hard to troubleshoot, but I am trying to gather a list of things to check on to pinpoint the problem.
I have a 97 GSR I had it dynod and tuned for an V-AFC2 when I drove it felt really good (162WHP). Like a dumb *** I left my lights on one night and my battery went dead when I jump started my car it when fine but when I drove it after that it did not feel the same does anybody know Y?

so your trying to say the ecu is just guessing at first how much fuel to give the motor at each rpm and after a while of driving just "figures" out what the best tune is for the motor huh...hmmm
As far as i know once your vafc loses power, the settings go back to default.
and NO the vafc does not learn everything overagain lol where do you people come from?
