Default What do I HAVE???

So i buy this 93 prelude and, judging by the sticker under the hood, its an H23... but i type in the vin # on carfax.com just messing around one day and carfax says it is a 2.0 ..... i know the car has been wrecked in the front so..maybe a new hood?? I'd like to know if you guys know some determining characteristics between these two engines...maybe some pics or something...i'd appreciate any help b/c i'm clueless at this point....

One says vtec - the other two don't.

H2x = vtec 2.2l
H23 = powerful non vtec........test drive it 2.3L
f2x = non vtec, sluggish,.....d16 like 2.2L

and....what sticker?

it says it has a 2.0 because preludes used to have a 2.0 until 1992 when they switched to the 4th gen.

Carfax is just slow to update

It will say h23 on the block below and to the left of the header.

You can see it in this pic of just the bare block.

fer chrissakes...does the valve cover say VTEC? If so, it's an H22. If not, and it's a DOHC...then it's a damn H23.

It's that simple. Truly.

Look to the left of your header and it should say h23 or h22 or whatever engine it is on a metal tab.
