I own a 00 Civic Si and I dont really like the gauge cluster orange/red color of the lights. I saw somewhere a Si with a very nice red cluster. I want to use LED's(flat topped LED's) to get a brighter red gauge cluster. Is there any place where I can get LED's that will directly swap my stock bulbs? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks.

 

go buy some PC board. some superflux LED's and start soldering away. be sure you have enough in there cause LED's create hot spots.

i did it in my EG, i used 6 LED's and that was not enough to lighted the whole thing. and that cost 14 bucks....so i got my money back

The problem with LED's are that they direct the light more than regular bulbs. Like stated above, you will get hot spots. I would highly recommend that you get regular bulbs instead of LEDs

Flat LEDs will not make any difference compared to domed ones. Again its a directed light source. Your best bet would be too look for wide angle LEDs, but even then you'll still get hot spots and have to deal with voltage differences. Good luck either way. I would say something like colored transparent vinyl layed on the back side of the guages would be your best bet. Even better than using model paint on the bulbs.

Oh if your dead set on using LEDs go for it, just look in to all the specs such as light emmission angle, lumons and max voltage. Draw up your schematic on it first too..

Why don't you try searching, I know your gonna say you did. But I'm sure you could search harder.

No matter what kind of LEDs you use they will create hot spots. LEDs are direct light wether they are round or flat. I've seen peoples clusters with LEDs in them and it looks like ****. But its your prerogative.

 

I did my EG cluster red LED, and it looks the exact same as when i had the bulbs sprayed competition orange.

 

Is there any place that sells direct swap red bulbs for the gauge cluster and the center console? Im really sick of the orange-ish color of the factory bulbs. Im looking for a very bright vibrant Red, like the STI gauge cluster. Any info will be appreciated.

Mine is down towards the bottom of the first page. I'm planning on doing a write up this winter when I get some time.

Flat LED's may work better because they scatter the light more than the regular ones, but that will only translate to using less LED's comared with using more of the domed.

 

So do I just need 5 #24 and 1 #194 to do the cluster and center console? This is for an Si
