Is it the whole shifter thats rattling?Maybe the shift linkage is hitting your exhaust? Can't really say, just try to pin point where the sound is coming from.

that does not mean its coming from the shift ****.

Take the shift **** off the car, and drive... If it rattles, its not your shift ****. Check under the car...

You my friend have a short shifter rattle. Annoying as hell. I had a machine shop drill out my pivit point in the SS to make it a little bigger and then i used 4 thick O-rings and it got rid of it. The hole that mine came with was smaller than stock and it eliminated that plastic sleeve between the pin and the shifter pivot hole.

SOooooo, yeah, i drilled that out and works great with no rattle. =0]

the more i think about it, It is definitly not your shift ****. Unless you have some really cheap aftermarket **** that doesnt thread into the shifter.

Any word on the diagnoses???

your shifter.... if you have a short shifter or not.... where its connected to on the shift linkage.... you should be able to see it when u get underneath the car... the screw, pin, nut, bolt howeever u want to call it might not be tighten all the way... go get it checked out...

I had a short shifter that would hit its resonance at 7900-8200. I put the stock shifter back in and the resonance is lower at 7000 to 7800ish. Ever paid attention to what the shifter feels like when it vibrates like that? You can hardly feel it. I got aluminum flywheel and solid mounts though.

Its normal. The poly bushings are going to translate more vibration. Thats the compromise for less flex.

speaking from knowing a guy that just built up his type-r.. get hasport engine mounts.. his engine doesn't move, no vibration to the shifter.. it sits amazingly still.. mine rattles like a bitch still.. b&m short shifter

it's just the engine shaking, transferring the rattle to the shifter..
engine mounts expensive fix, but works like a charm, and less engine shaking :D
