Default Hood latch relocation.

Before we get started, I did search but I couldn't find anything to answer my question.

I've read threads about moving your hood cable into your engine bay, but what I'm wanting to do is to move the whole LATCH (the thing used to release the cable and pop your hood) to somewhere else inside your car. Would this be possible to do?

This sounds like good theft protection but where would you move it?

Exactly. That's what I'm wondering. And can you put the latch somewhere where the cable is in a bending pattern a lot? I know it has one bend in it obviously to get to the hood latch, but could you have multiple bends in it?

Well I imagine the hatch and the throttle cable are made out of the same material wire. My throttle cable is curved around the engine bay beacuse of the JDM motor and I really have no problem with it. I really think if you don't put a kink in it it won't be a big deal.

But you also use your throttle more than you pop your hood so....

No no.. The latch inside the car that is pulled when you want to open your hood. Make sense?

i relocated the hood cable release inside the engine bay without any problems and ran it through rubber gasket by the bunch of wires by the master cylinder. also cut a piece of sheel metal to cover the hood cable going to the hood latch so they can't reach through the grill.

I think you'd be better off buying a hood lock than moving the hood release.

I think both would help.

had no problems with mine....i've tried to find a way to get pass the sheet metal to see if i can reach the cable but i couldn't do it so it'll either make them break the window but can't steal it by disconnecting the battery.

You lost me a little bit, but my point was, that even if they can reach the hood release, they would have a tough time opening the hood if it had a cable lock on it.

Even if you disconnect the battery, if it's still in the car, and they get access to the engine bay, it won't take long for them to hook it back up.

Nothing is perfect, it's meant as a deturrent.

The Cable is very flexible, it's the same as the throttle cable. you could put a lot of bends in it, just don't kink it then your screwed. but it would take a lot of force to do that.
