Default aggressive engine sound

how do you get K20a3 to sound like B16? I mean our engine is so quiet, what modifications can I make to make it sound more aggressive?

intake! go short ram if u want it loud.

go cold air if u want more top end gain.

headers generally won't make it loud... how about catback exhaust?

hate to plug other sites but if you go on ephatch.com they have some sound clips in the exhaust section. I like Dc race header to 2.25inch exhaust with stock muffler sounds mean.

if u want it loud, then go open header. if cops pull you over and fine you lots and lots of money, dont come on HT and complain and ask why you got 50 tickets.

A friend of mine has a 05 s and stock it was very quiet. Now he has race header, injen short ram, and invidia full cat back and vtec is alot more noticible and he car sounds real buff imo. It still doesnt crack like my B16B (but yea it is faster )

p.s yes i do know a k20a3 isnt a s motor but just for the jist of it.

i dont think you will ever get the K-series to sound like the b-series motors. just in my 2 cents. but i was told somewhere that cams can change the way how your engine sounds.

short ram intake, header, no cat, and apexi n1 should do the trick

Headers won't make your car loud, yes they will. Ask my neighbors.

Back when I had DC Race Headers and a Greddy Evo 2 exhaust my car would scream. Definately more aggressive sounding than stock. How could they not be louder with the longer runners and the elimination of the cat.

If you want to sound aggressive go first with a CAI. SRI may be slightly louder but the gains from the CAI demolish the SRI. Not to mention heatsoak.

Next a raceheader. Toda if you have the dough and DC if your looking for the best bang for the buck.

Lastly, is exhaust. This is going to determine your sound the most, choose wisely. Search for exhaust clips and decide from there. Sound is subjective so I can't tell you what is going to sound aggressive. But I can tell you what exhaust not to buy. The powergetter. It is extremely restrictive with a bottleneck that robs hp right by the canister.

Personally I would go with the Greddy Evo2, Evo TT if you plan on upgrading, Comtech or the HKS. They are all deep and no ricey. Plus the most popular choices on other forums.

Hope I helped a little. Oh yeah go boost and that will sound aggressive. Turbo XS RFL owns all.

I already have exhaust and short ram intake. My buddy's B16 has this crack noise when he gases and it's just hella aggressive. I'm guessing K engine sounds more electrical. Oh well. Thanks for you input.

Yeah, K series does have a totally different tone than the B series for a number of reasons. I have never heard a K series that sounds like the old B16.

But you can make an A3 sound aggressive. A race header will add a nice tone to your exhaust. What exhaust are you running?

This will never happen. If you want a more agressive sound then get a A2 motor. I assume the agressive sound your looking for is when Vtec engauges, if so like i said get yourself a A2 motor.
