What kind of insurance do you have?
I got a brand-new LS from my insurance (State Farm) b/c I had full-coverage, and the motor is covered by 'water-damage' b/c of the comprehension part.
Might want to call your agent and ask (and take off the CIA).
edit- Well, not 'brand' new...... 25k new.

Yes. I took it to a shop (my buddies). He wrote-up an estimate for a brand-new z6 (that's what blew-up), and the insurance-guy wrote a check. I took the money for a brand-new z6 and bought a slightly-used LS instead.

Assuming your engine hydro locked... Did you even look to see if there was any damage (bent valves etc...). I was told to pull spark plugs out and turn the crankshaft backwards to push the water out. Not 100% about it though.
i wish it just hydro locked... it sucked in water... which blew the engine... idk exactially what it did but it blew a hole in the block... theres literally a hole in the block wall which pretty much ran the engine without oil... it happend so fast i didnt have time to cut the car off... no bent valves... the only way that would happen is if the timing belt broke. in other words... the water cooled the aluminum block unevenly... which caused it to crack the aluminum. not a good thing i must say! the oil is under about 60lbs of pressure or more which blew pretty much all of the oil outta the engine at once...
still need a block tho!
