crx k20a2 turbo clearance problem
Huh I am wondering about the crx, if you put a k20a2 in it with hasport engine mount and then put a turbo will i have heat problem or clearance probleme with the firewall or i'll be fine ?!
The clearance is very tight, if there is someone out there that has done this, i'll be shocked.

Really, cut the firewall behind the exhaust out and move it all back about a foot. Plenty of room for a turbo then
Heat problem would be, downpipe too close to the fuel filter if you left it in the stock location.
Otherwise... the firewall can take some heat, if course you don't want anything within an inch of the header/downpipe

ditto...just takes a little patience and a lot of time.
im sure it can be done. some one can mounted a turbo 3' above a crx hood and made it work....call him
who says the turbo has to be in that location?

yeah i saw this one pretty stupid for a setup!!!
So without cutting the firewall it could really be a tight fit !! and what about if i buy a civic si 02-05 turbo kit and try to fit it would it work or will i have to do some cutting ?!

If you are seriously going to do this we will support you. It is going to take alot of money, alot of time, and a welder and good skills. There's a thread active in this forum about a guy's k20 crx, start reading there. I just know that it's not ANYTHING like swapping a D or a B series, which is why I am not doing it in the near future.

i like the way you think. your imagination is the limit when it comes to something this complex. I'm sure you could mount the turbo on the RIGHT side of the engine bay since there is a gaping hole when you do a k swap.. Just be creative. Look at pics of turbo eks or egs with k swap and get some idea where you can put it.

It can and has been done, if you want my advice putting a K series into an EF and turboing it is a waste of time and money, B series is much cheaper and simpler for forced induction, especially into the EF chassis

I think everyone was being fairly helpful. If you want someone to be a dick then just post something stupid and we'll all crawl out of the nooks and crannies like roaches and flame on you.
I would also say you could do the turbo at the rear of the car and then pipe it back to the front if room is an issue. You will lose a little PSI but you can have your turbo. Also someone said something about heat and the fuel filter which I 100% agree with so to keep heat down you could get your stuff ceramic coated which would help alleviate the heat problem. I know lots of guys that ceramic coat the turbos on there diesels. I think a K20 turbo could be done but you will have to take your time THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX and make what will work for your car. Otherwise B-series turbo and for the money you are going to spend, dump that into a B-series turbo setup and you will have something that screams.

ask him to stick a tape measure back there, and you'll get an idea of how much room you have.
from the images i have seen, i would say very little.
if you have NO room, then youll need to 'massage' the firewall with a hammer, or just take a jigsaw to the whole damn thing, now if you had planned on driving this on the street its going to get NASA rocket style hot in the cockpit if you do that.
if you find a turbo small enough to fit, heat will still be an issue. just ask any turbo MR2 owner about heatsoak.
to compensate you would need a hood cowl, or some sort of serious air flow behind the block to keep it cool.

You could use a huge turbo, and wouldn't have to worry about any clearance issues at all...
Plus, in a CRX there is plenty of room in the back for a turbo.
