i have seen this done and i was just wondering what i need to do this but i already know i need the 99-00 block off plate and the 96-98 cup holders but i read on jdmcivic.com on that one how to and i said i needed a left and right radio brackets that bolt right on the cup holders and that piece to holder the cd player firm in the pocket..can someone please help me on figuring this out the that link is no longer there THANKS

He is saying... He has a 99-00 civic with the radio up top(near climate control) and wants to convert to 96-98 radio setup with cd player down low(near cupholders).... I'd like to know whats needed also... Anyone have a write up or is it as simple as buying a 96-98 cupholder assembly?

I used the cup holders with the flip top...I beleive those are 96-98 as my 2000 had cup holders with no cover. As far as what do with the top, a block off plate would work. I personally took some ABS plastic, used the under radio pocket and made a 3gauge pod where the radio used to sit

 

why dont you guys go to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and look at the exploded views of the different trim levels that came with din units by the cupholder. then you can see what the differences are. just a thought.

 

ive tired going on that site and looking for the parts i need to but couldnt find them...im really just asking do i need the radio trim plate and brackets to hold the cd player in the lower din? if so any part #'s?

the 2 brackets are just so you can mount the cd player nice and firm without having to rig up some way of strapping it down, you will however still neew to modify the panel that the radio sits in, youll need to open the top and bottom up very slightly. Also there is a little gap on either side (right and left) of the radio so you'll prob wanna make some form of trim. But with those parts you can get it done

not sure how different it is with the 99-00, but i didnt have any gaps or didnt need to trim anything...i have a 96 btw...

 

glad i bought my 97 civic ex with the radio already in that spot.

it might depend on what size the trim ring on the aftermarket radio is wether it covers the entire whole or not, i used an alpine and it was a tiny gap.... but just enough for me to notice
