Can someone briefly explain what port and polish is? thanx

OK someone correct me if Im wrong but when you port and polish the head or intake manifold you are polising and knocking down the edges on the inside of the head/intake manifold so that the air flows better. Faster the air moves=more air gets in=more power.

you also usually port-match the head to the exhaust and intake manifolds so it makes a smooth transition between everything with less turbulence. At least that's how I understand it.

both are correct. Better air flow, equals better quality air and more of it, and it gets it out of there quicker too.
