Default eg cluster plug / vss question

i bought a 92 civic cx with an itr swap.

i got the car and it was coding for 17 (VSS) which i already knew cause the speedo didn't work. So i bought a new vss and put it in...... still not working... so i pull the cluster out and i notice that there are three plugs for the cluster but only two plugs on the back on the cluster (not counting the SRS plug)

there are the two long plugs and the small grey plug..... so i get a new cluster that has all three plugs on the back... plug everything in and still nothing.... everything but the speedo works (i think)......

why does this one cluster only have two plugs the the car is wired for three plugs....

im not positive but what cluster do you have because maybe the guy who sold you the car was cheap and rewired it for a type r cluster and then took out the cluster right before he sold the car

again not positive

not too sure about the plugs...what kind of cluster is it? i dont understand why you pulled out the cluster when you saw a code 17. the vss is located on your tranny. it is nowhere near your cluster.

replace the vss, not the speedo

okay

by speedo i meant VSS.... sorry i like to change the names of things sometime...

the reason i took the cluster out was because the guy told me that the cluster wasn't the original so i wanted to look to make sure that everything was plugged in correctly and i noticed that there are the three grey plugs plus the plug for the srs.... but the cluster only has inlets for the two big grey plugs.....

let me go take some pics....

when im looking at the cluster thats in there.... to the right of the BRAKE light there is a light with a little arrow pointing up.... im guessing thats the light that tells you to shift or something...? that is where the third small white/greyish plug goes to.

im new to EG's.... i've always been a EF or EM1 guy....
