Domestics running at Sport Compact events?
What does everyone think?
Pro Outlaw/Mod vs. Outlaw 10.5!!!!
Pro Street Tire vs. Outlaw Drag Radial!!!!
The rules are so similar, it is a very easy crossover for the domestic guys, and a good way to have a Nat. Import vs. Domestic shootout series.
Any thoughts on this?

woot woot
well i definately think you will see more of a diversified fan presence at the events if this were to happen
the drag radial class would be great - 3 cars in prostreet tire right now even though extremely exciting to watch every round just doesn't bring enough attention - get the domestics into the class too - v8 turbo's sound sick
i don't know enough about the 10.5" tire type class to comment
you mention having a Nat. Import vs. Domestic shootout series - these type of races would still be involved with the regular NDRA series or are you thinking of creating a new series?

I say the more the merrier. I dont see why it should be limited to sport compacts only if there are domestics who want to race. Of course they should have their own classes. If it brings more cars and spectators then do it.
i agree whatever fills the seats and brings more attention to our sport then thats great. everyone has to start somewhere. It all about racing so more the merrier.
That is what it is about, filling the seats. In filling the seats we will help promote the Sport Compact Industry as well as drag racing in general. It is a win win situation.
The Outlaw 10.5 class is like Paul and Brents class, only with Small blocks, twin turbos, and a 10.5 tire max. Some of those cars have been 7.00, but the majority are in the teen to twenty range. It would be lumped into one series, not adding a new series.

With your lock on the east coast and dominance of 10.5 guys on the east and central states it would be good idea to do it. Most guys like you said are 7.00-7.25 very consistent and the rules are very similar
ony difference is they have great displacement than us but we have technology as well so not a big deal. it would be fair and draw alot of attention.

I think GM will take care of that for us in 2006
This is something that we are looking at, but it looks pretty good as of right now, but will not know anything until PRI when we release the rule changes.
We also might allow 3/4(Honda w/aftermarket tranny) to full chassis (Honda w/Stock tranny) cars in Pro 4 cylinder

would the likes of humphries and efantis still run the big tire while the domestics would run the 10.5" tire or would you change the weight restrictions around or turbo limit size restrictions and run all cars on 10.5" tires?
i noticed humphries qualified 4th in the Super Street Car Nationals this past weekend in the 10.5" tire class on the 10.5" tire

I think this would be the ****!!!
But you really need to restrict the domestic guys on their tire size and regulate the weight so that this is still a 7.0-7.40 class. A 10.5W tire is still a big *** tire. Don't scare all of the import racers away.

No we would change nothing between the two. The Sport compacts would stay the same while the domestics stay the same. Just until we can get a feel for the cars and the racers from that side. They can't scare those guys more than Brent, Justin and Paul E.

I like the idea. Bring them on! Let them see how us IMPORTS do it. I say "Imports" because so far there really hasn't been much presence of domestic cars in Outlaw rear wheel drive. There has been 1 in the past 2 years show up. Up the purse and make 16 car fields if there are enough. If things stay fairly competitive, then stave off rule changes. If things are really lopsided, then change rules up until mid season. There were 44 cars trying to qualify for this very class at Englishtown last weekend, so there should be some hitters coming out to try and embarrass us on "our turf". Let 'em ride!
This post is my opinion and my opinion alone.

Hey Shawn, we will just have to wait and see.
Currently Tim Lynch, Mike Hill and a few othere are very interested. I would like to throw in the likes of Leo Barnaby and a few others.

Those are some big names that you've thrown on the table. It would sure be sweet to hand a loss to some big names such as those. The crowd sizes should be decent if we can get those cars out there to line up next to us. We all know that more famous racers have resisted HEAVILY when it comes to lining up against sport compacts. Now it almost seems like a right of passage, like something that was inevitably going to happen. I hope they don't have the attitude that they're just simply resigned to their fates.....I hope they're just as excited to race against us as we are them.
somehow i knew this was going to be brought up after the MIR race this weekend. 800 race tech cards were sold....and they had to turn people away after that.
MIR was announcing that they were having 2 NOPI events this year...and they sounded real excited about it as well.
is this race so huge simply because of the import vs. domestic theme....or the fact that its the last race of the year? there were so many people there.....that i never even saw a TON of my freinds that were there all day. just too many people to even run into each other.
would you follow their theme and allow all motor v8 cars into turbo 4 as well or start a new class for them? how about the bracket class's? there was nearly 500 bracket cars that showed up. would there be enough time in one weekend?

The idea is very good. but there had been more than 2 cars in the country running 6's. I think those are just 2 that you know of. There were a couple of 6's cars at the E-town shoot out. Its also more cars with big blocks than small blocks. And there is alot of pro charger cars also.
I saw that someone mention something about let them see our technology..... They are running the same thing we are running. Not too many cars are running carb. Most of them are running EMS's.
The OutLaw cars weigh 3,000 pounds and are allowed to run a 10.5w. Which is I think a 14 inch tire. wich still keeps them close to what we are running. At the E-town event if cars opted to run a big tire they had a 200 pound penalty.
And you are really gonna have to up the purse to get these guys to come up out.
Overall its an awesome *** idea. I know about 10 guys right now in my town that would love to race if you make it a NOPI class.... All they talk about is how fine the NOPI CHICS are....LOL

Let me re phrase the statement. I know that there are 9 or 10 that have run it, but with larger turbos, larger tires, differant weights, and things like that.
It will be very exciting if we can get it all worked out for the 2006 season.

This would be the best thing you can ever do with the series. The heads up outlaw racing mainly in the southeast is huge. It is real popular because there are many big money races. Troy Coughlin won an 1/8 mile race a few weeks ago that paid $50,000.00 to win and he got paid in cash.
Another think you should look at is since AMS pulled out of ProMod today, there are many possibilities there as well. Also Torco pulled out of NHRA last week because of politics which will hurt the ProMods.
Keep us posted, great idea.

I personally like the idea, it would bring in a bigger crowd I would think. The crowd was going crazy at mir yesterday when Paul was racing the mustang.
Tim lynch went 6.86 @ E Town forgot the mph. Would definetly be pretty cool to bring the whole import domestic crowd together. Funny thing was at the Shakedown At E Town Me, Ballard, Or Rob couldnt get a bet against Ara in the Pro Mod class. All the guys were pretty siked up with Ara's car that no one was willing to put money on the other guy.
you guys should attend
some of the "World Street Nationals"
I never attended one till this past october
let me tell you
there are full steel cars
just back halved and NO willie bars
running 6's
I don't think adding V8 domestics
at every event is a good idea
maybe have one special event mid season
sounds like NOPI might be jumping the shark with this one
It sure as hell won't be fair
to have the FWD class's protected from the V8's
that why most here are saying go for it
if they had to go against V8 all motor cars
they would sing a diffrent tune
