I have a ZC motor in my hatch which I ordered from hmotorsonline. When I received the ZC it was carb'd. In a Honda Tuning magazine a few months back they had a guy with a ZC/CRX that was carb'd and they said it was a 1.5 liter which he kept carb'd.
So were all the carb'd ZC's 1.5 or 1.6 liters?

no - all ZCs are 1.6

 

What is stamped on it.

I have a JDM 1.5x which is carbed, but it is stamped d15 i think.

Look up http://www.cr-x.org shoud be there somewhere.

Id say thats what you got, some of the jdm integra motors were a 1.6 sohc and were carbed. Could be that too.

 

my engine has ZC stamped on it and it came carb'd.
So does anyone know if there were any 1.5L with ZC stamped on it or is mine from an integra?
I checked out cr-x.org and it says the engine code is D15B for the civic/crx carb'd model so I am thinking my motor came from an integra. Anyone confirm or deny?
Anyway to look on the block for any markings that would clarify?

With all the misinformation spread across the internet, this post is to clarify the misconceptions about “ZC” engines.

In earlier “Hybrid” years (1996-1997) many people were buying DOHC 1590cc engines stamped “ZC” from engine importers. These engines were popular upgrades for Civic/CRX chassis providing ~130ps with bolt in ease. This engine was called “THE ZC” for quite a number of years, and even today people still consider this twin cam the ONLY ZC. Engine importers received a variety of other engines stamped “ZC”. The “ZC” stamp alone cannot identify the engine’s designation. The only thing one can assume is that ALL engines stamped “ZC” displaces 1590cc. “ZC” stamped engines were offered with a number of design variations throughout the years of production.

Cool, it looks like my ZC is a 1.6 liter since it came with the dual carbs while the 1.5 liter shown has a different valve cover and single carb.
Thanks davens, seems like you have answered a lot of questions about ZC's.

Still a little confused as in a Honda Tuning they had a crx(ef6) which came with dual carbs and was a 1.5 liter and they said it was a ZC. But maybe his engine had the D15b stamp. Unless he switched from single carb to dual carb with his 1.5L. Goddamn mysterious ZCs

Was this crx featured, a genuine import or was it a lhd car just made jdm.

If it is a rhd jdm car then it is a 1.5x crx with a d15b engine and dual carbs as standard

 

The crx was on the cover of HT. I reread the article and they don't mention ZC at all so that was my mistake. Thanks for all the help guys.
