Just my luck - ALL MOTOR B20 problem:(
Ok so here's the story..
I just spent a few grand trying to build my motor, I got a new head kinda don't know anything about it took it to the machine shop, had a 3 angle valve job done got it resurfaced, pressure checked. Everything was good so i get it back slap the head on put my sk2 s2 cams in everything goes smooth in-till i try to turn the intake cam for some reason its really hard to turn. (i was told this can happen on a high compression motor) so im like ok i guess that's normal so get it at TDC everythings looking good. I start the car up nothing, sounds like a T-REX dying in my motor so i jump out of the car put it at TDC my exhaust cam looked good but the intake cam jumped about 10 teeth and it's pointing at a 3 o'clock position. Now im scared so im like great my cams bent i take it out and throw some itr cams in there to make a long story short the same exact thing happened so my question is
1. how easy do skunk2 stage 2 cams bend?
2. how easy do cams journals get warped? is it fixable?
3. did i bend all my valves the 1st time that's why my type r cams didn't work either?
4. is there any easy way out of this has anybody ever had this problem?
ps everything was adjusted and torqued to standards..

did you use assembly lube on everything? and did you tension the timing belt correctly? normally its a good idea to crank the motor over with out the sparkplugs in to buil oil pressure and pre lube everything

yeah i did that too...
does anybody know if it's possible to bend my valves like that? i would think so. thats mainly what im worried about, is there anyway to check them without pulling the head? i dont want to do a compression test if the cams not moving.

If your timing belt is off by 10 teeth there is a good chance you may have bent a valve(s). Pull your plugs and look into each cylinder for damage. If you can't see any damage redo the timing belt and try to turn the engine over by hand with the plugs removed. Turning it by hand will let you feel any resistance. If there is any resistance STOP. You most likely need to pull the head.
The resistance you felt when trying to turn the cam was probably the valve spring starting to compress. That is normal.
I doubt your cams are that warped/bent. What did the cam journals look like when you swapped the ITR cams back in? If that was the problem you would have noticed it while the cams were out.

The journals closest to the cam gears were scratched up it looks like somone ran it without oil. I had the machine shop resurface the 2 journals that were scard thats why im wondering if the journals are warped, witch would make the cam bind and not wanna move. Is there anyway i can tell if there not inline? and will a machine shop beable to re-aline and balance my cams/journals?
A machine shop will be able to fix it depending how bad it is. To determine if it is the cam journals remove the rocker arms like IN VTEC said. That way the cams should spin free with no resistance. If you do this use assembly lube again. I don't think you need to pull the head to do this if I remember correctly.
Start with the easiest first. Do a visual inspection (pull plugs). If you find nothing set timing and turn over by hand. Let us know what you find.
