When you use the A/C it removes the humidity from the air. Thus clearing up the for from your windows.
Use windex man. That rain x crap is probably already off and now that your windows are clean, they're fogging up easier.

Yup, use your A/C system (USING THE RECIRCULATION FUNCTION) (it acts like a de-humidifyer) if you want to defog your windshield.
When you have the chance, check for wet/damp carpets during rain storms. Sounds like you may have an excessive moisture issue.

To clean the windows and windshield I use one microfiber with white vinegar and water and another one dry. wipe on, wipe off. I've learned just recently that if you want to get every spot off the windshield do it when the sun is going down. Park the car to where you are facing the sun. Then you can see everything. You know how when your driving into the setting sun, you can see every little spot on the windshield. That's what you need to do to clean every little spot off. And yes, you need to use the a/c to de-fog the windshield. Works like a charm.

i duno about the rain-x for fog (think it's called fog-x?) but i got this de-icer washer fluid combo that applies rain-x everytime you use the washer fluid and it's works pretty good i must say.
and as for the fogging problem, best things you can do is keep the inside surface of your windows clean, use the A/c when using the defogger

The biggest problem with Rain X is user error. The stuff works great, exactly as advertised, but there's a slight catch. After you've applied it, it should take you NO LESS than 15 minutes to rub it in well. If you don't, then you get the constant fog that you descirbed. Try cleaning with a good glass cleaner, and apply again. Move around and get some good visual angles so you can see all the un-even spots and make sure you rub them well. I usually end up stopping again at night to catch any spots i may have missed during the day. It's A LOT of elbow grease, but this stuff lasts a very long time. Good Luck.
