Default last mini me thread ever!!

from me that is...
I have a d15b7 and today my buddy told me he will sell me his y8 head for $80! wich seems extremely cheap, what all do i need to do a complete head swap? I know i need: y8 ecu,y8 dizzy, but thats all i know, what else is needed for complete swap? I PROMISE IVE SEARCHED! and i cant the info im seeking, i used to have a complete mini me swap guide on my favorites, but all my favorites got erased last week.
p.s. would the compression ration be the same on a mini me as a d16y8? also a mini me is still a 1.5L correct??

ok i understand it all, the only thing i dont get is that they say when you put the vtec head on it raises the compression. what can i do to keep the compression down to 9.2:1 or lower since it will be boosted??

yes the y8 will work with a d15, but the compression will be around 10.25:1

use a fuel management system, a lower temp thermostat, lower temp spark plugs, higher octane fuel, larger injectors, retard the timing for higher compression with boost

tomorrow im going to the honda dealership to buy a head gasket and timing belt for my mini me swap, i just want to make sure i'm buying the right parts. I have a '93 d15b7 bottom end, and a '99 d16y8 head. So i need the y8 timing belt, and y8 head gasket correct? I just want to be 100% clear on this!

Also with the compression being 10.2:1 w/the mini me swap, whats the maximum boost psi i can push while still being safe with a small 16g and proper tune w/ neptune ems?

My friend had this same turbo on his d16y8 (9.6:1 cr) and he ran on 10psi all season with no problems, then one time he boosted it to 12psi and blew the head gasket. so would 9.6:1cr w/10 psi be equivlant to about 8psi w/ 10.2:1cr?? and how much more boost can it handle if i got some arp head studs?

I'm guessin your car is a 92-95 if you have a b7 correct? If so, your car is obd-1 and your car wont work directly with that dizzy. I'm pretty sure you can just put in a z6 dizzy, maybe even the stock dizzy will work?

ok new problem, i put the y8 head on and used the y8 timing belt, i matched up the timing marks on the cam gear and crank gear, and then turned the crank over 1 full time, and checked the timing marks again, but the crank cam is a bit off to the right, so i moved the belt back a tooth, and now its a bit off to the left. The belt has 104teeth, and the b7 belt had 106 but had to much slack, its like there needs to be a belt with 105. any suggestions? p.s im using the b7 block w/y8 head

I did the y8 mini me on my d15b7 block. use your D15b7 dizzy, it will work fine. you will need the y8 plug wires though, the 1.5 do not fit right. the y8 HG is slightly thinner than the z6 HG. if you want less compression, get the Z6 HG.
