flywheel step

what are the effects if a person doesn't step the flywheel correct when its turned

The force the pressure plate applies to the disc will be less, as you can imagine. It basically means it will be a weaker clutch unless you step it properly.

from what i've read if the step is to deep the clutch wont engage but will actually hold incredibally good... DOesn't do you any good if it doesn't engage though.. Not saying your wrong drdisco but bump for a few more opinions

Well you can step it too deep or too shallow. If the friction surface is too high with respect to the pressure plate bolt surface, you may not be able to disengage it and it will be very strong. If it's too low, it's weaker. I was ASSuming that you were talking about it being too low, as that's what happens if you don't step it right when you resurface it, and it's more common to take material off than it is to add it.
