Dumb Question.. Gsr Block, B16 Head. What ARP head studs? (searched)
Yeah so.. Ive got a GSR block, with a B16 Head..
Do i order the ARP head studs for the GSR block or B16 head, im assuming for the B16 head but im not 100% sure.
Thanks!

I might be totally off (so don't quote me!) but I think you go by what cyclinder head you have. So in your case, B16A studs.
GSR head studs dude....use GSR
the b16 ones are shorter
you use studs to match the block unless its ls/vtec or B20/vtec then you use gsr.
hope that helps

B16 ones are shorter? Then why are B16/ITR ones the same..?
1 Question..
Gsr and ITR blocks are almost identical.. Okay. BUT the GSR uses a completely different head.. Now The ITR and B16 heads are almost identical.
So theoratically (sp?) Since GSR blocks and ITR blocks are identical. Wouldnt One match it to the head.. Since it seems that, thats how they are classified (b16/ITR) (gsr).
Hmm.. Not to seem like a *****? But are most of the answers just people who jumped on the bandwagon..
Anyone ACTUALLY have this setup?

Both the GSR and the B16/ITR heads are around 2.980" from the gasket surface to the head bolt surface. The difference is the length of the stud in the block.

as a matter of a fact I have had several swaps and a couple of them have been ls/vtec setups. I used gsr head studs because they are longer. B16 head studs are shorter. I have had the two laying side by side and I will reassure you that you need to use GSR!
This ISNT a LSvtec setup!
Its a GSR BLOCK, with B16 HEAD!!
Just to clarify that..
Anyone else?
I still think GSR's are longer because the head is thicker.. And since im NOT using a GSR head.. (b16/ITR).
If i pretended my block was a ITR (gsr&itr blocks same) Then i would have ITR head, and ITR block.. So i would run ITR studs.. Right?
Why does the GSR block need longer studs then the ITR block when there the same?

well if you are going to argue with all of the answers you get then why did you ask. You are better off getting the Gsr studs. If they are a mm too long then you are still ok but if you get b16 studs and they are too short then you suffer from down time to order the correct set. Sorry if I seem like an *** but its late.
No problem my friend!
If the longer ones will do no harm and just stick up abit then i will use them.
I just try to get theory behind answers..

I think your misunderstanding the "longer" part. The head of the stud is the same b16/CTR, GSR, or ITR, it is the threaded part of the stud that is longer, and the threaded part of a GSR block is deeper. It doesn't matter what head you use, that is really irrelivent. The head has no threading on it, there are simply holes that allow the head studs go through. Think of the head more as a washer on a nut and bolt.
there is a lot of confusion going on....
all vtec heads are the same height
the difference lies in the block like most knoledgeable people are saying .
b16/b17 blocks are shorter than the rest (pr4,p75,p72,p73,etc)
end of story...

you use the head stud for what ever block u use like the man said the heads are the same.. so if use gsr block than u use the gsr head bolts... b16 than use those head bolts.....ect.....
Nice. . . Im facing the same problem its just that mine is a b20 block with a JDM SIR 2 head....what head studs do I use?
