bettery suggestion
It looks like that my battery is going soon and I am looking for a durable battery. I got a battery from autozone for another car and it doesn't seem to keep the charge well (I stored my car for 3 months and then it got drained completely but I was able to crank right up with the OEM battery before). Are there any batteries which can be obtained at places like Sears and Wal-mart that are good?
Also, what kind of CCA rating is right for a Ek? I think that the current battery reads 440CCA.

If you want the battery to be able to be dropped to zero charge and brought to life many times, then an Optima is for you. Its a Deep Cycle battery. If you just want reliabity then a Diehard Gold at Sears is what I would go with. Sales pitch for ya..100 month warranty the first 3 years of which are free replacement years. Even if it wont recover from sitting for a long time, we will still replace it. I do it all the time. In your EK9 is a group 51, you will only see less than 600 in a Diehard but if you want something better get the Optima as well. There are two kinds, red tops and yellow tops. The red top is for better starting ( so alot higher CCA, and yellow is for the deep cycle. Have questions PM me.

hey turner, I won't be driving much so I want a battery that can hold charge so that whenever I drive, it can start the car up without a problem. So which would be a good battery for my case? My friend has a Diehard and he told me that it is very good. Can I get Optima from Sears or Walmart?

Well for what I found they don't make a red top for a honda civic.
I could be wrong...

You mean it's too large to fit or the reverse terminals or what?
You could always fit it in the trunk and re-route the power wires back there. Or you could fabricate a new battery holder. Of course those things take take time and money.

Sears, almost all civics are battery group size 51. Call them and ask them if they have one in stock. I have to go there in a few minutes I left some paperwork. I will get the item number and let ya know.

Yeah, they will test both for you. Its 12.99 for them to test everything in the system. If it needs a new battery, that 12.99 covers the labor as well.
its 51R Turner... Get that right. We don't want anyone driving around with thier batteries name brand upside down. Do we? hahahahahah
Yellow top = deep cycle, it's better if you have a stereo system and accessories and will stand for about 1 year in storage.
Red top = starting battery, more cold cranking amps.
I would recommend gettin something bigger than the 51R and rewire it back to the trunk. my 2cents

Ill look into the 51R, you could be right, mine just might be labeled wrong.
i bought a yellow top and after a year and a half the darn thing quit on me...The battery only has a 1 year warranty and after that your sh*t out of luck if it goes out...I ended up buying the Die Hard Gold and i love it...I can trust it because it has a 3 year free replacement warranty and actually 5 year warranty altogether...I would rather spend $80 on a battery with 3 year free replacement than $120 for a yellow top that has a 1 year warranty...You would think the battery would last but it sure didnt...Just my .02 since i did already purchase a yellow top and wasnt happy...

it rocks
