Based on your question, it would be best to do some reading/searching here first. Start with the Integra FAQ stickied at the top of this forum. It has many informative links.
As for your question, no you do not NEED a performance exhaust. You should determine your budget and what your goal is for the car. If you don't want to go forced induction (i.e.: turbo, nitrous, supercharger), then most people start with an intake/header/exhaust combination. There are hundreds, if not thousands of manufacturer combos you can choose from. This combo will let your car "breathe" better from the intake all the way to the exhaust.
From there, you can go a hundred other different ways too. Read up some more and search.

if you plan on staying N/A get an exhaust that has around 2.25 in piping... anything too big and the exhaust pulses (not backpressure, that's a misconception) will have too much room therefore giving you less power. A 3in piping exhaust system can flow up to around 800 hp, so think of it that way.
your stock exhaust will bottleneck the flow. you should get a 2.25" exhaust, unless youre gonna have a wild all motor setup. then id get 2.5" piping
