Ok I got my engine apart and im gonna clean and repaint the valve cover while i got it apart.
Have the powder coat on the valvecover is flaking off already but some is still stuck on and i can scrape it off.. Whats the best stuff to use to get it off? Aircraft stripper? Also can I use aircraft stripper on my charge pipes to make them shine?
thanks!
Just dont want to use it if its really gonn f*up the finish...

i've used aircraft stripper before to strip my valve cover and it worked pretty good. I don't know what would happen if you used it on your charge pipes, though.
If the valve cover is stock, it's not powder coat, it's just a paint product. Aircraft stripper or graffiti remover will do it. You may have to strip it more than once, and let it sit to get everything off. It'll be a flat gray color when you're done.
yeah, if it was actually powdercoated, it wouldnt flake off. powederpainting involves like "baking" it on, so its not gonna flake.
Powdercoat can still chip, it just depends how well the surface was prepped. But it is a hell of alot more durable than paint. As for sandblasting, if you decide to go this way you have to be really careful about what medium you choost to sandblast with. If you use a medium that is too coarse you'll get a rough texture all over your valve cover.

My valve cover is at the powder coater now.....I should have it back in a few days.
I sandblasted it..
Will post pics when I get it back.....
No paint job can match it in my opinion.
