Getting Vtec to work with a cable speedo?
my bro just braught a 1st gen JDM B16 back home last night to toss into his cr-x but he found out that it has an electronic VSS on it. now this wouldent be much of a problem but apparently, the ECU needs a pulse form the VSS to engage Vtec. is there any way to work around this wouthout havign to change clusters and such?
thanks,

You're getting help regardless.
I was told electronic VSS should be split at the sensor, with one wire going to the ECU and one going to the gauge cluster. I don't know how you're going to get speed to work in the gauge cluster but it should work anyways at the ecu.

just take the cable vss from your d series tranny and put it in your b16 tranny. trust me it works because thats what i did.

Exactly. The electromechanical VSS used in pre-1992 cars works fine.
