Default Glass Packs!! ???

Hello, well as the title states I have a question on glasspacks. Does anyone else here use them? I Put one in my lude (in place of the cat and stock resonator) and some people I hang with think I am nuts. They say glass packs aren't meant for 4 cyl. cars. I really like the sound of my glass pack and have gotten quite a few compliments on the sound of my ride. So what do you think?

Thanks

I've never heard of anyone putting one on thier Honda's, I've only heard of people using them on Chevy's and Fords

Why's that? It's not like it's any different in concept to a resonator.

However, I would put the cat back in.

I will be welding in a pipe in place of my cat on my Prelude, and have considered a straight-through glasspack instead of a pipe that will work in addition to my large resonator and Magnaflow muffler to quieten things down without being restrictive.

I will also be welding up a side-pipe on my MR2, and will be using a short 3"-diam. glasspack to quieten things down, but still let me shoot fireballs w/ my straight-through exhaust system

I am just glad to see I am not the only one! I will prolly never put a cat back on but I am considering putting in a resonator in addition to my glass pack. Athough with my exhaust only being 2 inch its really not loud at all.

Thanks all

any particular reason why you'll never put your cat back on?

the difference in flow between a test pipe and a high flow cat is negligible. i doubt it would even make a 1 hp difference on a dyno...

do you have a sound clip of what your car sounds like...i'm interested to hear what kind of a distinctive noise it makes?

And btw, what do glass packs do?

Its not about the performance aspect, its the cost -- a good high flow cat costs more than a glasspack or a resonator. Actually I can get for less than the cost of a high flow cat. Although I have seen CHEAP ones on ebay but I dont trust that sort of thing to ebay.

Thanks

Just wait till funds are avaliable and put full exhaust on, nothing can match that true sound and tone.

the cheap ebay ones are no good, but glass packs are what, 30-35 bucks?

a carsound obdII high flow costs around 60 bucks with 1 o2 sensor bung welded in, if you're obdI it's even less since there's no need for the o2 bung, maybe 50-55 bucks.

i know it's 20 dollars more, but for the sake of the environment and community, your own nose, and a potentially expensive no-cat ticket (not sure if the cops are **** about that like they are in california) it's worth it.
