Turbo folks (CA especially), what do you do when your smog check is due?
Do you pay a smog shop off to pass or just go unregistered? I'm thinking about getting a turbo kit for my H22 swap but none of them are CARB legal. What I'm thinking is to take the turbo kit off when the smog check is due whenever, but how much of a bitch would that be? I plan on getting a turbo kit on stock pistons, so I'd be running the safe 7-8 psi. My car is my daily driver and I'm looking to up the power a bit (hopefully hang with stock Evos and STIs? Is this possible without building?).
Other options are the JRSC which is CARB legal or getting the basic bolt-ons and spraying.
Any feedback is appreciated..thanks.
EDIT: MODS PLEASE MOVE TO FORCED INDUCTION. SORRY.

If I remember he's got an H22 swapped Acura CL. So I guess if the turbo kit is based on engine model that would be the deciding factor, though I couldn't see much of a difference between an H22a or H22a4 besides open/closed deck (or is the kit based on what space is allowed between generations?)

i dont think you would pass the smog test in the first place just for having an engine swap... as for taking turbos off... well it depends, if its a bolt on then it will take a bout a day to take it all off and put the stock stuff back on
as for smog tests, i think you only have to do them when your registering a vehicle from another state im not too sure or unless u got popped by a cop
and if your really really worried about being carb legal, go JRSC with carb legal bolt ons (aem and dc for example)
