Well the simple math states that its going to take around $30-$40 in fuel to get down there to save $5, and get brand name.

If the hoods aren't that much different I would go with the cheaper one. Otherwise the fuel cost will have to factor in.

I guess it all depends on how much you value brand name.

It depends on the quality of the local one... I have heard nothing but good things about the fitment of VIS products.
That, and it's a good reason for a road trip!

I never liked ZC hoods, looks too much like a talon or something. Never been a fan of hood tumors at all really. Not really a fan of CF hoods anymore either, and yes I've had one, mine was a fiber images and they are supposed to be>VIS. I just don't like hood pins, I think they look retarded. I'll stick with good old metal hoods. I'm a weight loss fanatic, but I can't justify the ugly hood pins anymore. On a race car yes, a stretcar, no. The Ferrari F-40 being the exception but they have a whole tilt CF frontend, with a trick retention devise on the side. Get a metal ZC hood if you must, or beter yet a 90-91 JDM frontend.

well yea.. i love driving.. and i dont mind driving down there for the hood.. but im not buying it for the name.. well.. i am.. but the name is also quality.. the VIS, well i know.. last for a lot longer then the no name one.. the no name.. craccs and fades fast.. and you pay for wut you get... the VIS one is just becuz the guy wants to get rid of it.. thats why for $275 i guess you cant beat that.. yea the gas is definatly an issue.. and time also..

I wish I had a ZC hood, then I would be able to open my hood without having to kick the front of it while doing the reach-around in the door for the latch, so I am going to change my mind and say get the ZC one.

hood pins arent a requirement of a CF hood.

..when your cf hood flys up going 80mph down the highway when the hood latch fails. because it will. the latch is in CF not metal like your stock hood. EVERY manufacturer of CF hoods highly reccommend hood pins...wonder why? EEEHH DUH!?

the latch on a CF hood is NOT made of CF its made of metal. the second link you provided the guy did NOT have a CF hood and his latch didnt fall off the hood either, his latch release let go.

well no **** the ACTUAL latch is not made of cf. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yea its metal. but what is that metal latch attatched to smart one? thats right CARBON FIBER or fiberglass, it doesnt matter. dont put hood pins or locks on, it doesnt matter to me i was just trying to help out. to the people who dont like hood pins, you do know you can get black hood locks real cheap and you barely notice them.

thats ok, ill stick to relying on the latch to hold it down. the 1 in a million chance of it happening isnt worth putting holes in a 4-500 dollar hood, sorry.

Thats cool, hope you like the sound of them flooping around at highway speeds pinless. the hoods can actually crack from it, I've heard, I dunno I used pins.
