Looking for new comps...Boston, Focal, or CDT?
I've never heard Boston or CDT, although I continue to "hear" good things about them. I had a set of Focal Polyglass, but would like to step up to Polykevlar K2s. Not really interested in MB Quart...they're too bright for my tastes. Any preferences here? Oh BTW these will be 6.5".
So, to sum it up. Here's my choices:
Boston Pro
Focal Polykevlar K2
CDT HD
And any others that people might suggest.
Thanks

You didn't like MB, but you do like Focals...seems like a bit of a contradiction. Some people call the Focal TN-45 tweet agressive, I call it bright. Focal makes great midbasses, but I think that their tweeter leaves something to be desired.
I would take a look at the following sets:
Image Dyanamics Chameleons (avail in both 2 and 4 ohm sets)
a/d/s/ 3-series
OZ Audio
Normally I would also throw in Diamond Hex's, but I think that they lack in midbass.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was also thinking about Diamonds, but they're another set I hadn't heard in person.... I don't plan on using subs just yet, so midbass is fairly important to me. That's one reason I was leaning away from CDT. I keep reading that they lack midbass.

my friends got focal 165k2 in front and cdt hd62dt's in the rear doors of his Tahoe. The focals seem to produce higher highs. They both sound good though. I sold him those cdt's because they didn't fit in the doors of my teg.

A/D/S for the most laid back. Focal for the most aggressive and Dyns are inbetween.
I just got some Rainbow Pros to replace my Dyn 2 ways, and they kick ****.

darkside, are you talkin bout those freakin $7500 components? please tell me you dont have that much money to blow, or are you talking about the $600 really nice ones? Id like to hear some of those Rainbow $7500 speakers to see if they are really that nice(which i doubt)
The $7k dollar models are the Reference not the pro series...I think.
The brightness of MB's tweeters decreases as you go up in price. As you go from the Q to the QSD series, they are dramatically different.
I would tend to say that the CDT's don't lack anything. I think they are a solid set.

No no, the as rcurley said, the References are the 7500 components. I got a chance to listen to them in Rick Macallum's truck. They sound damn nice, but not 7500 nice. Of course he got them for much less than that since he's a dealer.
I bought a set of the 3 way Pros which I got to listen to in my friend's car and they are pretty damn nice. Definately up there with the Dyns, Focals and so on...
My friend is a Arc and Rainbow dealer so if you guys want some good deals let me know.

Darkside,
What did you think of Rick's truck? The install seemed pretty sweet from what I have read. I want the CX mids for my setup, but I got stuck with IDQ6's insead.
I'm going to be running Arc amps in my next setup (All ID - HLCD's, IDQ6's and one MAX) I want to know if you can get me some pricing on the Arc stuff? Specifically the 4150 and the 2500.
What's the best way to get ahold of you?
