check engine light ?
I searched and couldnt find anythinh. Anyway, today my car died on me while driving it normally. The thing just didnt want to start afterthat. A mechanic asked me if my check engine light would turn on when I intially turn on the car and then turn off. I said yes, however i noticed that the car dosent do that. As far as i remember its never done that, and it should. So im wondering if the car has a fuse blown that controls that light or if something else is wrong. My car failed emissions because of code p1457 whihc should have triggered the check engine light but no light came on. How can i fix this?
yeah i have to replace the EVAP but have no idea how but i still have till november to do that. For now i just got to get my car to start and the check engine light to operate normally. Sorry im writing alot in every post but im still on trial and in order to minimize posting i have to write alot.
mine is a 99, and it shoudl the same thing as yours but it doesnt so im wondering if teh ECU fuse is blown or something around those lines, but i cant find the ECU fuse nor the check engine light fuse if there is such thing

So your throwing a p1457, but your CEL isnt lit? Have you ever seen it? Did you buy the car used? If you did, first thing to check is to make sure someone didnt pull out the bulb. Easy way to ignore things. Take out the two screws above the cluster and pull out the trim. Should see 4 screws holding the cluster in. Take em out and pull the cluster out. See if the bulb is there. If not, take the seat belt light and put that in the CEL slot. I hate my seat belt light, even though I wear mine. If there is a bulb there make sure it isnt blown. If all comes back clean its time to jump your ECU connector to read codes.

yeah, for sure check out the bulb problem. when you have the key in the "on" position is the dash lighting up correctly? if not then you know its definetly electrical. if it is lighting up correctly then you should check the fuel pump for its intial prime/check for all grounds located around interior fuse block to be secure/ check wires leading to main relay. similar problem with my buddies car, it was his ground by fuse block.
