Looking For Stiff Sunspenion
I was looking into the Omni Power Drag setup but have turned away due to some of their porduct quality. I now don't know what to pic for my strip/street setup. I put strip first because that is where the car will be seeing most of it's time. I just need something stiff and don't know much about spring rates and what to look for.
1000lb rear springs are not going to be fun to drive around on the street, that is something important to note. If you want to keep some semblance of streetability on your car, you might want to have a seperate setup for your rears dedicated to dragstrip work.
Adjustable damping only means that the damping itself is adjusted. It does not affect spring rate, and 1000lbs is going to be very stiff, anyway you slice it.
Oh I might be abel to think of one or two
, if you're looking for a strictly drag suspension setup. While stiffer rear springs and matched dampers certainly will help, there are a handful of other mods that IMO should be done first for the more noticeable benefits, namely tires, motor mounts, and traction bars.

Have traction bars and Hasport mounts. Tires will be purchased when i buy my weld wheels....otherwise I don't care what tires are on it since those will be used just for cruising around.
Could you use spring rubbers for the track?

If I knew how much they actually changed spring rates, I might have considered them for auto-x, to keep a soft street rate and a rear stiff track rate.

I probably wouldn't go above about 700 lbs for the street, and even that is DAMNED stiff... 400-500 is more like it (and still more than twice as stiff as most sport cars)
Edit: I'm riding on about 775/575; I think I'll swap to a softer setup next time...more like 500/550
A separate set of springs would be very useful for the strip/track...

I realized that we haven't thrown around any names yet eh?
Koni yellows or revalves if you go really stiff; + Ground Controls
Ground Control makes Advance Design
KW coilovers
PIC performance sells stuff obviously...heh
I have Tein RE, it's too stiff, but it does handle extremely well and the valving hasn't gone out on me --- still runs well.
I assume that some koni 2812 or 3012's would be just godlike...
