Default Resonator questions

My exhaust is way too loud, which is really no surprise since it's just 2.5" pipe besides the hi-flow cat and tip. I was just going to pick up one of the stainless jobbies from ebay ($18) because I don't want to pay the $100 the exhaust shop quoted me for just the resonator. I'm just wondering if there would be any difference between installing just one or welding two in to the exhaust?

The ones I'm looking at are 14" total length and 3.5" at widest point. I guess I'm just skeptical as to how much a resonator will quiet it down.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. TIA

resonators will help. how much it will help depends on what brand, design, length, etc...

1 resonator 3in will quiet it down some, but if your really wanting a difference use 2 if you have room. Or get a different muffler!

Didn't wanna start a new thread..

My car is extremely loud and is farting at times. I have a resonator but I think it's too small. I was wondering if getting a bigger/longer resonator would help the sound at all and also if resonators restrict flow.

I could see a cat restricting flow but I don't know about a resonator.

Also, how does a car sound with a testpipe on it? I've never heard a lude with a testpipe and I was wondering if I got a testpipe on my car along with a nice long resonator if it would make it sound good and not crappy..

i use to have a short resonater as a cat, followed by long resonator and then the flowmaster. I removed the short resonater to make it a little louder when i installed the header and it got quiet :S
