94 accord with 96 front end? whats needed?
Whats needed for a swap over of the 96 front end to a 94 accord, i was told that all i needed was the bumper? that it fits perfectly?
Everything fits, between all 4cyl Coupes and Sedans, but you have to remember this:
1) Front Bumper Cover w/correct lamps
2) Bumper Bar
2) Bumper Reinforcement
4) Bumper Lip
and the Hood (bonnet for the Brit's among us) swaps too.

if you by any chance get a 4 dr bumper, you have to cut about two inches of it that overhangs into the wheelwell and also remold (i used fiberglass) the corner light area of the bumper.

its not pretty, but it works in a pinch.

Listen Buckwheat, I've been called for not checking references in here before. This time I'm calling you to do the same. Honda calls out the same part numbers for both the coupe and Sedan Fenders for both I4 and V6's from 1994 thru 1997. Even the wagon uses the same P#'s

look kiddo, no need for name calling.
Nothing to get straight, i know what i had to do to make my bumper fit my car. I know where i got my bumper, I am fully aware of all this. I was merely sharing my experience. I didnt cut two inches out of my bumper for nothing. It was damn near rubbing against the wheel.
do you have any personal experience with this? if so please share.

To clarify, the underlying sheet metal and the fenders are the same for both L4 (Coupe and Sedan) chassis front section from 1994 thru 1997. The differences are what's hung on that sheet metal.
If you're going to hang a '96/'97 front bumper on the front of a '94/'95, you're going to have to swap everything involved with not only the cover, but everything that mounts it as well. This works also in the other direction as well.
Between these two sub-series 5th Gens, the only differences are:
Front and Rear Bumper treatments
Front Bumper Lamp size and placements.
Emblem Placements
Trunk Lid
Rear Tail lamp treatments

Of course they're different numbers. It differenciates the styling changes. IE: larger lamps, modified chin detail, etc. Heck, you could have the same piece with a different number, just because of a sourse change!
I've never stated that the Bumper cover were the same part number, but that both would fit. Would it stand to reason that everything they mount to and align with is the same (for 4 cyl chassis)
And I'll say it again; you've got to change everything:
Cover
Bumper Bar (beam)
Reinforcement
Etc

Yup, because they're assuming that you're going to be reusing the original underpinnings, which are different between '94/95 and '96/97. Which I've been maintaining all along.

When did I say it wasnt? I said in my first post that all i did was a bumper swap, i never said anything about changing any underpinnings. All i said was that he will need to cut some. And i maintain that. That is what you were disagreeing with me on unless ive been misunderstanding you.
Ok, lets just leave it at this. The Front Bumper ASSEMBLY will swap between the '94/'95 series and the '96/'97 series.
The Front Bumper Cover will NOT swap by itself, because of different fastener locations and the miss-match between lamp location and it's mounting provisions.
The short of it; if you purchase everything forward of the radiator support for a '96/97 from a salvage yard, it will fit on a '94/95.
