01 s2k (i think im burning oil)
i have an 01 s2k with 47k miles and it was burning oil so i took it to the dealership since i still have warranty and they had it for about 3weeks. when ever i went to pick up the car they told me that there was nothing wrong with it and they were informned from honda that the s2k has a very powerfull engine and that it should burn 1qt of oil every 1000 miles. im not sure what to think?
i was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem with their car
all help is appreciated thanks

you'll burn a little oil when you drive the car hard, it's wise to check it after a hard drive...... however 1qt every 1000 miles is junk...
and if a dealer ever says "they were informned from honda that the s2k has a very powerfull engine" to you.. then wow.... it's definently time to go to another dealer.

1qt every 1000 miles is... 3+ quarts every oil change? So when I change my oil its supposed to have less that 2 quarts left? Scary...
I use either Mobil 1 5w30 or Royal Purple 5w30. One hint that it doesn't burn much oil is that.... when I do my oil changes, I put the used oil back in the little quart bottles, and usually end up with 5 almost-full ones.
I've never heard anything that crazy...

if the car was brand new, and it has the special formualted oil in it that you're supposed to have in the car till around 5k miles.. thats normal....

now you have to explain it to him why they put detergent on the oil in a brand new car

Welcome to Honda's wonderful Warranty System.
I love my S2K but I hate the Honda Warranty. I dont blame them if they dont cover something dumb that somebody does to their car but I think everyone should get a "get out of jail" free card no matter what happens.
Unfortuantely this is not the case.
It's as if they will sell you a car that is "performance minded" but won't fix it due to it being a performance car under warranty. Ludacris to me.
I think your issue may be worn intake valves especially if you rev it high, which is a S2K of course. Than again it could also be the piston rings. Your issue is not rare with a lot of S2K owners.
Thank you HONDA! You may make fun cars but your warranty sucks ***.
