yeah you can get a decent set up for that price since your homebois doing the installation.. didn't you ask this question before.. but your budget was like 800? anyway.. yeah i think I told you to find a friend to install the stuff so u can apply it all to parts..

well as for specific model numbers.. sorry man.. i havent really been lookin for stuff for a while since i put mine 2getha already.. .. so i really dont know what is out.. this is probably a good time for you to possible get close outs.. and last years models.. since a lot of new 2002 stuff came out in february and march.....

i'd say get a Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse/Fujitsu Ten, or Nakamichi deck.. you can get nice pioneer units for around $250+... and alpine has some decent head units around $300...

you didnt mention speakers.. so im not sure.. do you already have aftermarket speakers?

subs.. JL's are nice (this is what i have ..12W6's).. i had Kicker Solobaric 12" (the old round ones.. not the square L7s).. it was nice and hit pretty hard... the Kappa Perfects are nice.. Rockford HE2's (i think thats the model number).. Alpine Type R is nice too... pricing i dont kno.. like i said.. i havent been looking so sorry i'd have outdated info/pricing..

amp.. PPI (this is what i have now) is nice.. JL is another good amp.. Phoenix gold (i used this to power the kicker solobaric..) is another nice amp... RF punch...

sorry for the vague answer.. hopefully someone else has more current info for you..

have you looked into audiobahn? theyre awesome, especially for the price. i got two aw1200x 12" subs in my trunk, and im pushing 1000 watts to each. they hit harder than JLs that cost 3 times as much, and are very clear. i got em for $80 each new in box. and for amps, i would go with power acoustik. they have some sweet looking amps, very clear, and very powerful. ive had four different PA amps in my car, and none of them has blown, no matter how hard i push them. i have the PA 2400 watt, 1 ohm amp right now pushing those 12s no problem. i got it for 300 new from someone who ordered the wrong amp and couldnt return it (lucky me). there are a million good head units out there, so just pick one that you think looks cool, and i think the infinity reference mids are awesome. not as expensive as the kappas, but they are louder, and just as clean. plus they got the 359 degree rotating tweets, which is a pretty cool gimmick. anyway, thats my advice...

yea $900 is enough for a decent system..and like the guy b4 me said..power acoustik still bumps and isnt damn expensive...i got a 800 watt 4 channel amp for only 80 bones....its usually more...but do some bargaining...dont shop at them retail stores..find a wholesale place....buy it all at once.....900 shoudl get u a pretty good system..

suggestions for amp and subs.
-get the jl audio w3's. they run about $200 each brand new
-get the jl audio 500/1 monoblock amp, its about $550 brand new but in a good
box (the jl audio HO -High Output- box) the subs will sound awesome.
-the price will be a little high but its worth it for the quality of the system.

If you want to save some money and still have a kick *** system:

Memphis Internals ($300 bucks for 4 speakers)
Alpine Type R 12" SVC ($125 bucks from ikesound)
MTX 4202 amp ($150 bucks)
JVC kdsh99 ($250 bucks)

That gives you a couple hundred left over. That jvc deck is HIGHLY recommended, best bang for your buck kinda deck. The amp is enough to make that Type R bump. The sub is one of nicest, cleanest sounding subs for the money, and you can't go wrong with memphis internals. But if you plan on using all $900 bucks, nothing wrong with going all JL. However, the system I just set up is still plenty damn good.

Why are you all recommending him to get class a/b amps for subs? What a waste, and as for power acoustic that is just fleamarket junk. Sorry guys, dont mean to hate on your gear, but...... I gotta call it like I see it.

If I were you, I would hit ebay. You can get a good pair of 12"s for 160-300
IDQ 12 V.2 (80 each) Must be good cause they won the DBdrag world finals in street 1-2 with 153db and 1200 watts
Alpine type R 12's 125 each
Rockford He2's
Infinity perfect's
jl audio wo's or w3's. Whichever is in your price range (I am not much of a jl fan though, had w6's and w3's. )
Audiobahn (I haven't used personally, but have heard pretty good things)

For a good sub amp, I would go class d
Jbl bp series 600 or 1200 (same power at 1 or 2ohm)
dei 500d or 1100d
crossfire 600d or 1000d
memphis 500/1000d
Rockford fosgate makes class b/d which are very good.
Lightning audio (rockford fosgate amps in a different heat sink)
lanzar vibe series (d series only)

Many people go with the jbl bp 1200.1, two svc 4 ohm subs and a good sealed or ported box and it sounds great and gets plenty loud.

If you are planning on going competition, your budget may be a little tight, but can be done.

I am currently running Digital designs 2- 9012's (www.ddaudio.com) and a zapco 9.0, http://www.zapco.com, in a custom ported box in the 150's, but then again I have a little more than 900 dollars into my system.

Best of luck, just dont waste your money on flea market junk.

Steven

a few suggestions. first off sounds like you have some decent hard earned money ready to make a nice sounding stereo, thats awsome man. Please however consider this along with everything in that budget. An alarm. They are a pain in the *** to install but consider the alternative...no toys.

however on the stereo stuff. Sometimes used stuff is ok, consider deals. i will tell you this, having worked at the 2 major electronic chains nationwide...(bestBuy and Circuit city) i can safely say that car audio is marked up around 200% so there is no deal to be had paying full retail. However the benifits of warantees and extended service plans are worth it. Anyhow, consider groupbuy.com. Other discount online sites, cant think of any now,.....guys allitle help on this one. Look for the deals. If they are there and the equiptment is something good, do it. A good deal feels a whole lot better then hearing a stereo that someone paid alot less for sound better than yours at full price. Just shop around.
