Hey whats up guys, i have a civic with a gsr motor in it, and i was checking my oil today and it was pretty low, so i put a couple quarts in..

Well the level of oil doesnt matter but, i was in such a hurry that i closed my hood without putting the Oil cap back on (Yes i know i forgot and im an idiot for that dont flame ) but anyways, luckily i lived only a few minutes away from where i work (thats where i checked my oil) and right when i got home i realized i left my oil cap off. Now i know alot of bad things can happen when there is no oil in your car. And luckily the car didnt make any noises by the time i got home and the engine seems fine BUT the thing is that my car sounds louder (i have a stock exhuast), not that loud but loud enough for me to notice the difference when i sit in the car. Now what is the worst that can happen? Im glad i dont hear any funny noises, but worried about my engine. Any help is apprieciated

the louder sound that you hear .. is it the over all motor sound just louder ...maybe ur stock exhaust has a hole in it ?

i left an oil cap off my celica from gas station to my house b4 all it did was get oil everywhere lol but that was only like a 3 mile trip

Eh, i've left my oil cap off more times than I can count on a previous car (learned my lesson thankfully) and never had a major problem...cept when I actually lost the cap and had to buy a new one...

 

What was your oil level at when you got back? If it didn't change much, then it's probably mental.

Unless a small family of racoons crawled in through the hole while you were driving.. then you would have problems.

 

probably just in your head. you'd prolly see the oil light flash

 

Thanks guys for the input, im glad nothing is wrong with my motor i hope.. well the oil level was about 3/4 way and i put another quart in there, i didnt check the oil level when i got home cause it was dark outside already. but no weird noises, just sound like the car was louder (noticable), sounded like my car had an exhuast but i have the stock exhuast... so i should have nothing to worry about? i dont hear any ticking or anything of that sort.

sounded like i had an exhuast kind of, i cant really explain it, and nah i dont think i have a hole in my exhuast.
