Default B18C1 Engine/Trans Tear down and Rebuild for FI

Im going to use this thread to make a journal of the engine build process. My friend Jay (username JV) helped me finally get it to my house after being outside under a tarp for about 6 months. Its going to be built over the winter, and I HOPE to drop it into something in the spring. Plans as of now are built bottem end, freshen up the head, rebuild the trans, add a LSD, 4.7 FD, and 5th LS gear. After all that, its going to be a JRSC tuned with uberdata, or gt28rs turbo setup.

Day One: 11/03/05

Trans Seperated and Draining

There she is in all her former glory, beat alot of cars with this motor...including Sean with his old setup

Removed ACT HDSS, like 8k miles mabey, great clutch

I don't spare any expense, 2/3rds of a full hasport mount kit.

Harbor Freight Engine Stand

Engine Stand Mount Secured

Coppertone Suntan Shelves from CVS So much better then everything lying everywhere

Money Saved on the hasport mounts, goes to the most important and vital part of the build!

7/11/05: Had about 15 min to work on the beast tonight

Cam Rails Off

Top View

Numbered the caps

Caps Off

Caps off and on the table

Cams Out

One of the caps has a scratch on the journals Not too bad, but not good never the less

Layed Everything back on to keep together so no parts are lost

Head and Bottemend should come off on thursday or friday!

I've Decided to go another route with the block, this will be its new main purpose

Broke my Fav shorty wobble extension on a headbolt

Headbolts all out

Head finally off!

Plenty of carbon on the valves

Plenty of Carbon on the Pistons

Smooth as a babys butt

Oil Pan off

Oil Pickup Removed

What all you LS guys dont have

Bolts loosened up

Wear on a main journal

Girdle off

Oil Pump off

Another Bottem end Pic

Wherd that darn piston go?

Ah, there we are!

Random white crap in the block

Ballsey, That **** would have been gone if you lived in Portland. Too many people here would rather steal than buy their own ****.

Good luck with the build. Looks like an excellent winter time project.

Got some new hottness for the build. Coming along, slowly but surely. Just taking my time on this one, making sure everything is done right, the last car everything was done wrong and I won't have it this time...

9mm ARP Rod bolts

Piston Ring Filer

Rod Bolt Strech Gauge

This motor will be built right the first time
