just buy a usdm itr and save yourself some hassle.....
there are still a few out there that have not been stolen yet, and w/o a theft recovery title.....
do a jdm front end conversion and be done with it.....

depending on where you are, theft recovery doesnt mean much. technically still a "clean title". some places the title gets branded.
but yeah. its not a real RHD. you want a real one goto USPS.com and see how much they are selling their trucks. those are USDM RHD

Dude...since your a fellow Washingtonian I'm going to give you a little advice:
1) Do a general search on Google for Japanese Auto Importing and things like that. Start emailing these guys that go to auction and have them buy a RHD R. Take good note of the price. You can buy two JDM R's for 18K.
2) If you live in an area where smog checking is required, change your address to a house of someone you know who doesn't live in an area where smog is required.
3) Purchase your car and get ready for the headache of getting it through customs.
4) Take said car to said (non-smog compliant) DMV and register that sumbitch with no problems. Little redneck towns won't even be clued in on what to inspect.
5) Enjoy.

It looks like you are waiting for the ITR community to give you permission to go ahead and make this offer for $15k.......?
If you have done the research as you have said and there has been enough advice on this thread...put it together and make the final decision yourself.
Good luck.

Buy my ITR for 1k less and have a JDM Fronted PY that's legal and registered
To answer your question, even 15k is a little steep in my honest opinion...you have to remember, the resale value of a salvage/theft title car is about half of what it would be if it were a clean title...not to mention the particular car you're looking at had the front end cut off and welded back on? Nothing I would look into buying

If I had ridiculous money, Powerball jackpot money, Bill Gates money, I still wouldn't pay $18k for a hacked-up salvage car.
