Default EGR Value Issues

Hello All -

I have a 1991 CRX Si. I just performed the DOHC ZC swap. All is well besides one issue, a code 12 - EGR Value problem.

I know this may sound stupid, but I can not locate the EGR valve on my engine?? I couldn't even find it on my old Si engine. My Si is a 1991 and the ZC I have has an "88" stamped on the block.

I've refered to my Factory Honda CRX Service Manual for my old D16A6 and it is showing the EGR valve behind the valve cover next to the air induction tube. My service manual is for a 1990 and my car is a 1991. Not sure if that makes a difference because I thought the 90s and 91s were the same. I do not see anything that looks like the EGR valve picture in the book on the D16A6 engine or the ZC?? Does anyone happen to know where it would be?

I'm supposed to be taking the car through State emissions testing tomorrow and I'm concerned it will fail.

Thanks for the help!

My idle is fine. I do notice my A/F guage is running rich on the highway though, where it was 'stoitch' (sp?) before.

My light was on for 3 days, but then this AM on the way to work the light was off, but the ECU is still flashing 12...

That's strange...ZC engine, ZC ecu in an Si chassis. None of which had an EGR that I'm aware of.
I can understand if there was some HF DNA in there someplace, but as it is...I dunno.

Exactly. Where the EGR valve is shown in the manual, is not there. This is the first time I was aware of an EGR valve in this car, as I've never had an issue before.

Ok, I'm an idiot. It's an F'ing PM8!

This whole time I've been thinking I had a PM7, but nope. I glanced at the ECU really quickly when I bought the engine ecu and header from the the kid back in March and never looked at the ecu again until now. Uhh...

Here is the number, 37820-PM8-A030

Is this at least an Si ecu? If not I have my stock Si one somewhere that I can stick in for now. Looks like I'll be buying a PM7 from someone.

Doh...

Well, thanks for clearing that up for me.

This PM8 ecu ought to make a good frisbee into the woods.

Ah-HA! I knew there was some HFiness mixed in there somewhere.

I wouldn't use the PM8 for trap/skeet shot just yet...I believe with a little extra effort it can be chipped. More effort than a PM6, but I *think* it can be done.

I think I'll take the easier road and throw the PM6 in there for emissions tomorrow and then buy either a PG7 or a PM7. I'll have to see what I can find on eBay.

Thanks Guys!
