Default Getting a 92 si lude on Friday!! Got a question...

Yup I'm happy!! Well, this is my fist post in a long time. I was under another name a while back (accordinated91). Anyways i had my 91 accord lx 5spd. coupe for about 10 years now, im 25 now. 250,000 on the body, 130 grand on second engine and tranny (junkyard). That was done about 4 years ago. Thing is basically falling apart.Well to make a long story short, the past couple years ive been eyeing up a sebring silver 92 si lude 5spd. thats around the corner from me. Well the other day i see a for sale sign on it...i almost crapped my pants! That comes to my question,i was thinkin hed want around 3 grand. He's asking 1800!!! I'll give ya a brief description: cancer around rear wheels (no biggie) aem intake, catback exhaust, altezza tails. 170,000 on body and 40,000 on rebuilt. I already had the guy fax me the info on the rebuild (was done 3 years ago) , so i know it's legit. So basically im getting a good deal right? I took it for a ride yesterday....wow ...i fell in love . On top of feeling like i was driving my accord it had so much more ballz!!!!
I always loved preludes and now that there not in production anymore , it will be hard to find them. Too bad its not the h22, o well i cant get everything i want.

That's awesome! Buy it and then you can fix or mod it any way you want.

hell yeah! i dont think im gonna sleep till friday, just gonna think about the lude and play resident evil 4 for ps2. haha...yeah , i was thinking about talking the guy down to 1500...but i dint want to mess anything up...im just gonna give the 1800 and run. He was gonna throw in 17 rims with toyo tires, but he said his girl got pissed cuz she bought them for him for his b-day. I'll just have to put my 15's i had on my accord , prolly be quicker anyway with 15's. And i was surprised it calls for premimun gas. i figured just the vtec would need it. I'm just hopin these guyz who rebuilt it knew what they were doing.... But the engine runs great.....sounds good and no shaking. so im gonna keep my fingers crossed. I loved the torque!!!!!
So are there any important things i need to know....Prelude secrets????lol

Thank you. This will be my second car, like i said , had my accord my 10 years now...So its due time for something new. Now what to do with the accord???? HMmm. I'll probably end up keeping it cuz i had it for so long and i dumped so much $$$ in it. Needs alot of work too...I figured the most i'd get is a grand. Not worth it. Oh yeah..... the bill says $2321.27 for the engine rebuild...Does that sould about right? The only thing i'm worried about is these hicks (no offense)around here rebuilding it, cuz i heard its a whole diferent ball a wax than say, a 350 chevy. But then again, that was 40,000 miles ago, so i guess if something were to happen it would of already. Plus the kid said he has no problems with it. Ok i'll shut up now...sorry if im rambling on...just so f@#$ing excited!!!!

yeah, i was thinking about putting them on, since he said he'd give me all the original parts...Probably would look better with the original lights. Thanks for all the replies!

no need to apologize dude, u sound like me...i was the same way when i was in the works of gettin my lude. i looked for years n couldnt find anythin worth buyin anywhere. finally one just fell in my lap. my brother in laws brother buys cars, fixes them up, n sells them for profit. well mine was a steal. it was a 93si. the motor had a knock in it so he rebuilt the block n cleaned all the **** out of the head. so i had a brand new motor, new clutch, new breaks, n to top it off a brand new paintjob all for 4grand. he was gonna sell it for 65 so i feel bad he lost all that money but hey...thats wut family is for lol

And what grade oil...is it different with a rebuid. im used to using 10w-30 should i use that?? o and where about in ny r ya, im from there. If near long island u ever hear of deer park avenue? (dpa)

lol actually i live about 10mins from the ave. yea it originally had an h23 in it but i swapped in the h22a. shitty part is i got rid of a brand new motor for wut turned out to be a real piece of **** lemon motor. im savin up for a monster of a motor though at the moment. yes u gotta use premium gas. 10w30 is fine...i use 5w30 in the winter n 10w40 in the summer.

I'm gonna have to disagree....

I usually only post when I have problems or when its really important but with gas the way it is I just figured it wouldnt hurt to give you my .02

First off congrats on your prelude! I know the feeling! I had an 89S prelude and drove my dads 92 accord f22 sometimes, slow, but faster than my prelude, before my 93SI so I know how it feels to go from the accord to an H23.

However, I bought mine with 204,000 on the body and motor. I knew the girl I bought it from thats why I bought it but stopping at the gas station on the way home i noticed it said premium only.

I'd call the guy your buying it from and ask what kinda gas he's been using, I did the same and the girl told me she had just used regular and her aunt who gave her the car (also bought it new in 93) has always used regular.

I'm currently at 230,000 on the car and I've used regular gas the whole 26,000 miles i've had it and no problems.

I'm not saying you HAVE TO use regular or that regular is better or Premium is a waste of money or anything like that, just something to consider when filling up!

Have fun with your Prelude, I know when I graduate, I'll have a 5th gen to play with!

Edit: I do agree on the oil tho... I use 10w30 as well!
