stock like suspension???
Got crappy ebay coilovers left over from previous owner. Finally blew out front shocks! Plus they always squueked anyway and were over all just junky.
Want to go with something stock height, just slightly stiffer than stock, with a decent quality shock. No tein $$$$$$ setup or anything. Looking for suggestions.
Basically looking for comfortable ride that will hug the road a little at speed, i drive 93 miles one way for work.
Also need a place to get the rubber bushings for top and bottom of springs since the previous owner tossed them?
(yeah i searched, but didn't find what i was looking for... and yes i searched the 2 suspension forums also)
edit:
oh yeah, and suggestions on catback *quiet* exhaust would be nice too... need to get rid of the rice and fart can and junk on this car!

sport lines on some new or pretty new generic shocks... mine ran fine and I still have them if you want to buy them. On a side note, theyh arn't stock hight but a little lower on a good ride.
also, there is a exhaust topic on this forum... look in there.

tokico blue or kyb gr-2 shocks and stock springs. and get a 90-93 integra or 88-91 civic sedan front swaybar (23mm hollow and 19mm solid, respectively) for slightly stiffer turning, and get an aftermarket 22mm rear swaybar.
get the front bar from the junkyard cheap. the rear suspension techiques swaybar is about $125 from summit.
thats pretty much my setup, except i have illuminas and a mugen rear bar. i like it great for street driving.

Somehow i'm envisioning a Saturday morning at the junkyard :-( .
Never ridden in an EF with stock springs (go figure), is the ride extremely soft, or half way stiff? (looking for non-floaty, but comfy). Willing to spend couple bucks on aftermarket springs.... ehhh can always change it later. (accck and i tow my Raptor around with the civic so a stiffer rear is nice... yehhhhh.... i know it's ghetto, but honda doesn't have old trucks)
As far as exhaust i guess i'll just order me a dynomax super duper turbo muffler and have a shop weld it in place of the hollowed wanna be fart-muffler on it now.

My friend has a stock 4dr, and it's not like its a mercedes benz or anything handling-wise, yet there is a note of firmness in them. It's somewhere in between. Rides very nice though.
If I had the time I would convert back to stock. I don't like being lowered anymore.

lets just say everyone who's gotten in my car was pleasantly surprised at how smooth my car drives, and coming from a road racing and autox experience, my car handles fine as it is on the street without disappointment.

Went to the junkyard... found Nothing!!!
Usually there's about 5 cars to pick from, today... none.
So temporarily i bought one shock to replace the blown one (just some 42 buck thing at pep-girls).
Ordered up the gr2 shocks, the rubber gaskets, and bump stops i need to go back to stock springs. Figure i'll get H&R springs (1/2" lowering) or something for springs... since i can't find stock springs anywhere (i hate ebay), and new ones are $$$$. Think the H&R's will suit okay... or definitely go with stockies?
Jacked the crappy ebay coilovers currently on the the car all the way up (and it turned out previous owner had installed the sleeves upside down, which explains some of the squeeks and creeks). Turns out the shock didn't blow up because of bottoming out... but because of rust because of all the moisture stuck behind the coilover sleeves... i hate rust.
Thanks for the input!

Yup, it rusted all the way through! Well... most of the way and then blew technically.
The adjustable spring doooohickey deal uses o-rings to hold it halfass tight to the shock body.... and turns out the top o-ring is a little loose (enough to let water in) and the bottom one is tighter (keeps water in) soooooo. ebay = rust.
There was actually water draining out of it when i took it apart.

Aaron, if i can't source them locally free i'll probably order up some aftermarket progressive ones... no sense in shipping from 2,000 miles away. Thank you though.
I finally got to drive the car today at stockish height. Rides a LOT better than it did lowered, it's actually comfy... can tell the springs on it now are too stiff though (especially with the preload required to lift it with the adj-coilovers). Can't wait to get some good shocks and springs on there,,,,, and a muffler.
I had it lifted tooo much at first... with positive camber... damn that sucked,,, but now its good. waiting for alignment with new springs.
