Default are civic coupes not good to race?

i never see to many coupes racing auto x/ road racing. is this because the wheelbase is longer than a hatch ? Or is it because of some suspention geometry that dosent let it handle as well , thanks in advance

I think it is primarily that the coupes don't look as cool and the fact that they weigh more. Suspension, etc. is the same... Wheelbase is a tad longer, which would make them better for rally probably, but road racing probably not.

I just think the Hatch is trendy, no real reason other then that. Actually, the coupe should be better aerodynamically.

i think they are great to race...(partially because i do my self). yes they are a bit heavier than their hatch counter parts, but with a good suspension setup and tires, they do just as good.

had a coupe for many years that i autocrossed. recently switched to a hatch because i like the looks and the lighter weight as well as the shorter wheelbase.

Pete C. drives a EG coupe in the ECHC. He say's its more stable than the hatch. Has the Summit Pt. track record too

ive never driven either but i know the difference between my DA and an EF ive driven. the EF had alot snappier oversteer and would swing the rear around alot faster than my DA. i think this is due to wheelbase. but i know 2 guys who race autoX in civics. one eg and one eg coupe. there bother pretty much the same it jsut comes down to driver i guess

Hey jimmie. I can't tell what car that is, can you make it a little bigger? I can't count the nose hairs in that one.

Thanks Lo-Buck EF for remembering my car.

In our series, any weight advantage gained by building a hatch is negated by the minimum weight rules. Maybe that's why there are as many coupes as hatches in the Quebec Touring Series...
