in which gears? Will it do it in neutral? Is it rpm dependant?

If it's like a scratching sound, but goes away everytime the clutch is disengaged, it's a very good chance that it's your throw out bearing.

To see if your clutch is Done do this. Go off cruising to going through the gears 1st and 2nd then crusing at 3rd gear leave it alone then without accelerating go through 4th and go to 5th gear and when you let go of the clutch at fifth gear if your car is shaking bad then you know the clutch needs to be replaced.

If it's a chattering as you go past the pressure point, it's definitely the springs on your clutch disc. If you drive 'til the springs pop out (they will eventually), you won't be able to get into gear.

The Excedy is a good clutch. The average installation costs are from $300-$500. It's best to save your money and do it yourself with a couple of friends. Good luck!

Well...you can get just the clutch disc and not the pressure plate. I wouldn't recommend it though.

I drove 10k miles with my clutch disc springs chattering. Just don't do any crazy high-RPM shifting and you should be fine. But really...get it fixed before it dies out on you.

If you're tight on money, just get a Type R clutch. I believe they go for $220.

If your bearings are shot, just put a new clutch in. The major price of putting a clutch in is the labor, so while its out you should put a new clutch in. Ryan

You CAN do the job yourself. If you have any mechanical experience you might want to try it.

It's basically just time-consuming. I didn't find it "hard." I didn't mention that I'm 17, did I? Age has nothing to do with it. It's all about how mechanical you are. If you have been able to work on other things, you should be able to do this. Good luck if you decide to do it. If you have any questions, you can PM me and I'll attempt to help you.
