Default Crossed drilled rotors worth it?

I read up on some forums saying that cross drilled rotors are a waste of money.. is that true? or do they actually serve their purpose in cooling down the rotor

First question: For what do you use your car, and are you cracking the rotors frequently?

I go through a few sets of front rotors/season on my DC2 track car but it's so cheap to replace them I don't worry too much.

No, they don't. There's really no performance benefit at all, and you gain the risk of cracking the rotor.

I had powerslot slotted rotors on my car, and even they didn't have enough of a performance benefit to make them worth the 3x price over the brembo blanks.

Not worth the $$$...I use autozone rotors with a one year warranty. They work great.

its just a daily driver, so basically all slotted and cross drilled suck and i should just stick with brembo blanks/ autozone blanks?

I bought a pair of Autozone rotors and pads and I must say that my factory Honda warped rotors and break pads which had 148k on them were better. But they do their job for 52.00

Brembo have more mass, so they're less prone to warping. I got mine for $29 from the sponsor section on here; so not much more than AZ, but less than OEM.

for a daily driver, x-drilled or slotted rotors are fine. they're expensive for nothing, because there's little to no performance benefit, and accelerated pad wear, but otherwise you don't really have to worry about failure unless you live on top of mt. whitney.

for a track car, there are a million different reasons not to use them, but it's a fairly technical discussion.

for a DD car, it boils down to: do i want to pay extra to look cool? and some people do so, it's worth it to them.
