Default cold air/intake

im looking to add intake to my 05 accord lx sedan. is there a difference between cold air intake and regular intake? what performances will experience? any recommendations on a good low cost intake system? is it easy to self install?

i also wanted to know if theres something i can add to the end of my exhaust without adding a whole new muffler. I just like the chrome look, but i dont want all that noise along with it. I believe i will be satisfied with the sound of the intake, mufflers are just to loud.

I assume you are referring to cold air vs short ram intake. Cold air intake is longer than short ram and extends outside of the main engine compartment. Although neither will provide anything close to large boosts in performance, the cold air intake will be slightly more efficient than it's shorter counterpart.
It is pretty easy to install with basic hand tools. Take the rubber tubing and intake box out and replace it with the piping and filter of the intake you purchase.
I suggest buying the cheapest intake you can find for your car on EBay and adding a K&N filter to it. In my opinion, buying a $200 name brand intake is a waste of money.

An AEM intake will most likeley cost at least an extra $100 and add less than 1 whp. Not worth it in my opinion

ya but arnt they good for ppl who dont want the loud sound of a muffler? i personally want the intake to hear the power of the car, and the tiny boost in performance(if any) is just a bonus. thanks for the advice, im looking them up on ebay as we speak. does changing any of this void the cars warranty?
