tried searching.... to many ecu threads to filter
i might want to buy a 00' jdm itr ecu. is there any way to confirm that it is authentic? do certain ecu's have specific features that help to identify them? what should i look for?

more than likely it will have a number in the first digit of the second set of three numbers.
ie
I know for sure
P73-013 = 98 JDM
P73-A02 = 97 USDM
P73-A03 = 98 USDM
P73-A04 = 00 & 01 USDM
warning - USDM scantools will not communicate with JDM ECUs. So you will not pass emissions with a JDM ECU.
ie
