My shit waste alot of gas.
i have an 88 crx with a b16, all stock and it waste gas like no other! i just did a full tune up 1week ago. when i say full tune up i mean everything. only getting like 140 on a full tank.
Plugged cat? I know a friend who had a Jeep with a plugged cat (glowing red!), didn't impact driving noticably due to it being a gradual effect. I'd also check for an odd exhaust leak, if air was getting in, it would sense a lean condition, dumping more fuel in.
Otherwise it's your driving style. Do you speed up gratually (mostly), or is it just WOT for you? It could also be an issue with loosing cyl pressure (bent valves, bad rings), making you use more gas to get the same power. And did you gap the new plugs correctly?

140 miles to tank is bad. have you checked you timing, both distibutor and cam to crank timing. I've had issues before where the exhaust cam was a tooth or three off. dont know why it happened but it did. may be worth it to check it out. i beat the crap out of my b16 and have never ever gotten that bad of gas mileage unless the timing was off. check your timing marks just to be sure.

ya i checked my timing its perfect. i have no cat straight pipe and no exhaust leak. i drive regular **** at 3,500 and on freeway only go about 70mph. i did a compression check and the numbers where 220,215,220,210. unless my gague doesnt work properly. is there a way i can find out with out running my car all the way in till there is no gas. When my car reads E i go fill up and when i open the gas cap you get that air noise that usually means you low on gas. correct me if iam wrong.
Are you sure that when the gauge reads E, its actually almost out of gas?
I ask because my roommate's HF, when he goes to fill up, will only go to half a tank. The gauge and/or sender is messed up, and it will go way below the E before it actually needs gas.

i have a ys1 tranny. i got a new one, denso took it back twice cause i thought it was that. ya that mileage sucks A
. i drive a 100miles to work and school a day. its putting a big dent in my wallet. my del sol is in the shop getting the rear quarter panel replaced, that gets 320miles to a full tank with a b16 also.
do you think its could be the gas tank being to small?

Good point.

It's not always the best to gauge mileage by how much you get "to a tank". Measure it by how many miles you have gone by how many gallons you have used.

you have to do it by tank, after you get your total you divide it by you tank size and then you get your answer.im pretty sure every body knows that
not saying you dont. del sol 26.6 miles to the gallon. back to the subject i put in 8 1/2 gallons of gas and the needle does go up to the top.well to the F, oh ya when i fill up i fill up to the rim, and i still get sorry *** gas milage. i dont know if that matters. HELP!!! i wasted 140 bucks in a week already.

Uhh, no, unless you sputter into the gas station on fumes each time you fill up because you ran the tank dry.
Here's how you do it (preferrably at the same gas station and just do it at the first "click" off, instead of topping off, for best results):
1.) Fill up till it clicks off. Don't top it off.
2.) Reset your trip odometer.
3.) Drive normally until you need gas again.
4.) Fill it up until it clicks off. Don't top it off.
5.) Check how many miles are on your odometer, and divide that by the # of gallons shown on the pump/reciept.
Tank size has nothing to do with calculating your gas mileage.

Damn straight. I figure your b16 should be doing a lot better than 26 too.

What kind of mileage does your del sol get, because 10 x 26.6 doesnt equal 320
