Default Adding a 12v to STD model

My STD Civic doesn't have a 12v plugin, duh. Do the wires exist in there for me to wire in a 12v unit from a junkyard vehicle that came with one? Or is there a different way to power a radar detector?

Hardwire it off of your radio circuit. Don't forget to fuse it.

http://www.pozitiveconnections.com/wiring_code.htm

those are your radio wire colors, either the switched + or constant + for your power feed and then of course ground for your ground. If you want it to come on with ignition use the switched circuit. Simply strip the wires connect the two wires for the detector, and solder and tape. IF you are really electricly impaired since this isn't critical wiring you could use a scotch lock connector. Hope that helps.

There is a plug behind the console (under/behind/to the side of the radio unit underneath the console unit) with a white and a black wire attached to a male clip. Yes the STD was wired for it, you just have to find it, I did it on mine a few months ago and it works wonderful. If you want a new outlet, use these as the black is the ground. If you want a junkyard model, you might have to re-pin the female clip attached to the outlet itself, but as long as the black meets the black and the white meets the white, you will have a fully functional OEM outlet in your console without nasty bits and pieces hanging everywhere.

Good luck!
