Default ITR tire size help, please

I am a owner of 2000 ITR
I am just trying to get a set of good 17" tire for my R'
Currently had 205/40/17 it was horrible , too bumpy

I want to go a bit thicker
anyone know that I can fit in 215/45/17? or it is have to be either 205/45/17 , 215/4017?

thanks

Ray

205/40-17 is the proper 17" size for an ITR, with tires the same outer diameter as the stock 195/55-15. If you use a tire size that's any bigger than 205/40-17, it's going to rub like no tomorrow, it will throw off your speedometer and odometer, and it will make your car accelerate slower.

The reason it's so bumpy is because, when you get big wheels, you get short sidewalls; wheels that are two inches bigger mean a sidewall that's one inch shorter. If you want a ride that's not so bumpy, you'll have to go back to 15" wheels.

Yes. (Its outer diameter is 3.5 percent larger than the stock size tires.)

Everything that has been said so far is true. however, there is one more factor to consider. If your overall wheel and tire combo weighs more, the suspension will have a much harder time absorbing the impact. Since you went plus two with your rim choice it is very likely heavier. This weight is adding to the difference that you now feel.
