Is it possible to swap an ep3 steering wheel and preserve cruise control?
I have considered swapping my steering wheel. Is it possible to do so and save cruise control? Anyone done it?
Thanks

The only thing I can't advise is U can trace the wires back down the steering column, tap into them & go to Radio Shack & look @ some switches. They used to have some nice momentary contact tilt switches that were black & easy to hide. U'll only need 2, 1 for set-decel & 1 for accel. I did this mod back in the 80's on my 82 Accord. It worked perfect.
If you're talking about a Momo Monte Carlo or something like that, then it's going to be a hell of a lot of trouble and my only counsel would be to resign yourself to having to operate the cruise control away from the steering wheel. You'll end up putting some switches on the dash or something.
If you're talking about switching to one of the Momo ITR or CTR wheels with the higher quality leather, then it will be easier. Although the ITR and CTR did not come with factory cruise control, the wheels are the same basic design as the Momo USDM Si wheel, and the modifications required will be much less drastic and you'll end up with the cruise control pod mounted in the normal position.

If it would be considerably easier, and it sounds like it would be, I would go with an ITR wheel. George, are the ITR and CTR wheels thicker along with having a better grain? Would the stock cruise mount to one of these wheels in the same place? Would my current airbag transfer or would I have to get a new wheel with a new airbag?
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

The wheels that I have seen seem to have a better quality leather (at least it certainly looks and smells better), and of very slightly smaller diameter.
I have never felt it a worthwile investment because it was just too much money for too little improvement. One of the things I think Honda definitely got right with the DC5 and EP3 is the OEM steering wheels!

Yes, fairly easily. Ocelaris has collected a few of these wheels and has sold a few, and he would be a good resource to contact about this.

The entire deployment device would need to be transferred; however, this should not be a problem because you already have a USDM wheel.
I think you should consider this carefully. It's a lot of money and trouble for very little improvement. Our OEM steering wheels are really quite good, IMHO.
