Tranny help
i am going to need a new trans coming up soon for my 01 gsr, and i was trying to figure out what will be the best trans to get. people tell me that a crv trans will be good, and others say jdm itr trans, but wouldn't it be cost effective and better if i replace with the stock trans and an aftermarket lsd?? your input is appreciated.
Since you're here anyways, the CRV tranny won't fit unless you modify a few things.
ITR tranny would be nice if you have the funds, but you're going to at higher cruise RPM on the highway. If you just need a tranny to get around, find a used gsr/b16 for 5-700. If it's imparative you have an LSD, you can find a used ITR tranny anywhere from 9-1,500.

well its a road course car so i have the funds for a good trans. so you are saying that the only difference between the itr trans and the gsr trans is the lsd and final drive? and would a b16 be better that a gsr trans?

ITR tranny also has carbon coated syncros, but that doesn't really matter if you have an 01 with a busted tranny already. b16 > gsr

Maybe an 05 ITR, but not the DC2 ITRs.
The difference in cruising rpm will be due to a different 5th gear ratio (as well as the others), the FD is still 4.4 in both the GSR and ITR (USDM).

.....the itr has more agressive gear ratios as well - so it puts more power to the ground in each respective gear.
For cheap, you could get a b16 tranny, lsd of your choice, and gear set of your choice.
