Main Relay help needed. 89dx with 93 b18a swap.
Ok so a local shop did the swap, not a very good job the whole wiring harness was done one one color so its impossible to tell what wire goes where. The car would not start after the swap, it wasn't getting any gas so we raplaced the main relay. The car started and drove for about two blocks and died. It will not run for more than a minute before stalling out regardless of how much gas you give it. Brought it back to the shop and they said main relay was shorting out they could hear it clicking like crazy. Put another honda main relay in and that one does the same thing, I really doubt two hodna main relays are bad. Whats the deal? Car is a 89 dx with a 93 ls (obd1 swap done). Thanks guys
open up your main relay to check for any bad soldering spots (cracks and stuff where the solder is). if it look ok, then i might not be the main relay. did you check both your fuel pumps to see if they work? also, how was the motoring running when it did run? did it put-put-put along or was there alot of bogging, etc? btw, how much did you pay for the swap? hopefully you didn't get ripped...
Its not mine but the relays were brand new from the dealer. I think its in the wiring, anybody know where to start looking?
A shop did the work and it still doesn't run? I hope they are either going to fix it or you didn't pay them.
As it is now, you have no idea how or where the the culprit starts or ends.
You've got two separate issues to track:
1. DPFI-MPFI conversion wiring
2. B18a wiring (determine which)
---A. obd-0 (relatively simple)
---B. obd-1 (more complex)
No two ways about it, you've got a lot of work ahead of you. Find out which obd and ecu you're running and we may be able to offer some more specific advice.

As is said, Its got a rywire conversion harness and the cars harness was swaped to OBD1 It does start and run for alittle then dies and the main relay clicks like crazy. Sound like a bad ground? Somthing crossed in the harness? The fuel pump cycles and it has spark but after a minute it dies. The relay is brand new from honda.
