Bouncing tach
My car runs fine but sometimes my tach needle will jitter up and down, sometimes as much as 1000 rpm. It doesn't do it too badly unless I rev the engine past 5K or so.
The last time I had a similar problem it was the ignitor, however, that time the car was running like crap and stalling, this one is just the bouncing tach, I haven't noticed any hesistation in the engine.
Any guidance is appreciated.
P.S It's a ZC engine.

check the grounding screws on your ignitor. I had a similar problem a few years ago and it was simply loose ground screws... But not too long after that the problem came back and the tach needle was all over the place, but the car ran fine... Changed out the dizzy with a new unit and it was all kosher... Good Luck

Stock Si tach. I'll pull the cap tonight and check for loose connections. I know the ignitors are prone to die and this one was high mileage (came of the d16a6 I replaced).
Just wanted to make sure I was on the right track, I hate to buy a part and not have it fix the problem!
Are the Advance/Autozone ignitors any good or should I spend a little more for one from the dealer?
